Mr. Stefan is the Director of Bands at North Allegheny High School. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education, Percussion Applied from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University (YSU). Prior to his current position at North Allegheny, Mr. Stefan was the Director of Bands at Thomas Jefferson High School in Jefferson Hills, PA, Director of Bands at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, PA, Director of Bands at Sharpsville Area High School in Sharpsville, PA, and served on the the faculty at Grove City College in Grove City, PA as an applied Percussion Instructor. At North Allegheny, Mr. Stefan teaches the Senior High School Wind Ensemble, the Senior High School Symphonic Band, the Senior High School Concert Band, the Intermediate High School Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble 1, and the North Allegheny High School "Tiger" Marching Band. Mr. Stefan has served as a guest artist with the Theil College Wind Ensemble, has conducted the Mechanicsburg Jubilee Days All-Star Jazz Ensemble, has studied percussion with Mr. Joseph Parlink, conducting and with Dr. Stephen Gage. Mr. Stefan's bands have all been judged excellent and superior and have been awarded numerous first place trophies and best overall band awards at festivals and parades in Virginia Beach, VA, Orlando, FL, Hershey, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, San Antonio, TX, Atlanta, GA, and at the Atlantic Coast Championships in Scranton, PA. While under Mr. Stefan's direction, the North Allegheny Bands have appeared at the Disney Spectro-Magic New Year's Eve Parade in the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World, the Mastercard Alamo Bowl halftime show and band competition, the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Parade and band competition, the North American Music Festivals in Virginia Beach, VA., and Festival Disney. The Marching Band has been awarded the Jack Shea President's trophy in the City of Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade for the past four years, and winners of he Allegheny County trophy for the best overall band in the City of Pittsburgh Veteran's Day Parade for the past five years. In February of 2006 the "Tiger" Marching Band was honored to be the lead band in the Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XL Victory Parade. All of the NA Bands have released numerous CD's that are available for sale. Mr. Stefan in an active member of MENC, PMEA, and PAS. Mr. Stefan lives in Bethel Park, PA with his wife Kristen and son Tyler.

Stephen G. BaldanziAssistant Director of BandsMore Info

Mr. Baldanzi is the director of bands at North Allegheny Intermediate High School. He earned a Bachelor of Music in composition with a minor in music education at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. While there, he studied trumpet with Dr. Dorothy Heier and David Sampson of the Solid Brass Ensemble. He completed a Masters of Music in composition at Carnegie Mellon University, Pgh., PA studying with Robert Page and Leonardo Balada. He also attended the Aspen School Music studying with Lukas Foss and George Tsontakis. Prior to coming to North Allegheny, Mr. Baldanzi was a music teacher in the Shaler Area School District and at Carlow Campus School. Mr. Baldanzi’s duties at NAI include conducting the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble 2 and Jazz Ensemble 3. He also teaches music theory, electronic music and song writing. Mr. Baldanzi is the assistant director of the “Pride of the Black and Gold” North Allegheny Marching Band. Mr. Baldanzi is involved with various community groups including the Allegheny Brass Band in Wexford and Stage 62 Theater Company in Carnegie. He is also the orchestra director for Carlynton School District’s spring high school musical. Mr. Baldanzi is currently a member of PMEA, MENC, and the International Trumpet Guild. He resides in Crafton, PA with his wife Toni and their two sons, Alex and Joey.
